Customs Intelligence Quetta impounds vehicles & goods priced at Rs100m

QUETTA: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta took into possession a large number of smuggling items including non-duty-paid luxury vehicles worth Rs100million in the first 15 days of January.

On Tuesday morning Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta impounded Iranian blankets, shawls and Indian silk worth Rs7million.

Sources told our reporter that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Irfan Javed received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle said items from Quetta into different cities.

He immediately constituted a raiding team. Team In-charge Safdar Bahadur and others enhanced surveillance at the Balili check-post and started search of the vehicles.

During the search operation, the team intercepted a truck bearing registration No: GK-3853 which was going out of the city.

During the checking, the customs team recovered 100 packets of Iranian blankets, 200 shawls and 10,000 meters of Indian silk worth Rs7million.

The customs team seized all the goods and arrested three smugglers. The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta registered an FIR against the smugglers and started investigation.

Earlier, the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations Quetta also seized a number of white plastic Dana (Powder) bags worth Rs5.34million.
