Customs Intelligence recovers Indian origin polyester worth Rs 17 million

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad has impounded a non-duty paid trailer loaded with Indian origin polyester worth Rs 17 million.

Sources told Customs Today that following the directions of Diector Customs Intelligence Saud Imran, a team of customs intelligence intercepted a trailer bearing registration no. TLW- 676 near Sabzi Mandi Jhang Road. The trailer was loaded with Indian origin grey cloth and polyester.

The officials asked the driver namely Muhammad Aslam to produce the documents showing legal import of the items. He only provided a copy of consignment no. 357 issued by Arshad Ali Cargo Service but addresses and contact numbers of both consignee and cosigner were not mentioned.

After finding the discrepancies, the Customs Intelligence team impounded the trailer under Section 2(s) 16, 32, 32A, 157(2), 178 of the Customs Act, 1969 read with Section 3(1)3 of Import and Export Control Act 1950.

The team comprising Superintendent Muhammad Rafique, Senior Intelligence Officer, Mirza Zahid Saleem Mirza, Intelligence Officer Mansoor Nasir, and Sepoys Khalil Ahmad, Muhammad Iqbal and others participated in the raid.
