ISLAMABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has accelerated crackdown against smugglers and seized contraband items worth of Rs 534.4 million during June.
As per the details, during different raids, the Customs Intelligence seized 69 non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 139.5 million and filed 22 cases against smugglers. While under the section of 157, the department impounded 54 vehicles and the value of these vehicles was more than Rs 63 million.
The contraband items which were seized included 16,7874 yards imported cloth worth Rs 61.9 million, 15,779 kilograms tea worth Rs 4 million, 5,139 tyres and tubes worth of Rs 48.9 million, auto spare parts worth of Rs 8 million, wood under the value of Rs 2.3 million, 421,000 liters diesel worth Rs 23.3 million, 25,000 liters Mobil oil worth of Rs 375,000; at least 9,378 packets of cigarettes worth Rs 4.7 million 15,000 kilograms urea fertilizer worth Rs 1 million, 820 cartons of gutka worth of Rs 1.95 million and others smuggled items worth Rs 154.1 million. During different actions the Customs Intelligence team seized 23 kilograms chars and 1kg chemicals.
