Customs Intelligence seizes items worth Rs 24m in June

FAISALABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized smuggled goods worth Rs 24.86 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 13.32 million during June 2016.

The Customs Intelligence registered almost nine seizure cases during the said period. It also impounded six different vehicles worth Rs 10.7 million, which were being used for transportation of smuggled items.

The Customs Intelligence conducted various raids against the smuggled goods and vehicles in different areas of its jurisdiction, including Sargodha, Khoushab, and Faisalabad.

The teams confiscated 9304 kilogram of smuggled Indian origin fabrics worth Rs 6.87 million involving duty/taxes 3.553 million loaded on three different Mazda truck, Toyota Hiace van bearing Registration No LES- 10-6580 worth Rs 3 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 2 million, machinery worth Rs 4.022 million involving duty/taxes worth Rs 1.973 million, 360 kilogram of polyester worth Rs 275,000 involving customs duty Rs 150,000, 12890kg yarn worth Rs 5.5 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 2.773 million, polyester grey cloth  worth Rs 4 million involving duty/taxes Rs 2 million.

It also impounded a Toyota Corolla X worth Rs 1.2 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 856,176. All the seizure cases have been referred to the Customs Adjudication for further legal actions.
