Customs Intelligence seizes items worth Rs 40m in a week

ISLAMABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation confiscated smuggled items worth Rs 40 million and made 20 cases during third week of May 2016 in all over the country.

Following the directions of Customs Intelligence Director General Imtiaz Ahmad Khan, the department has expedited the operation against the smuggling and illegal trade in the country. The intelligence impounded non-duty paid vehicles, foreign origin cloth, diesel and cigarettes.

As per details, the Customs Intelligence impounded eight non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 13.3 million, four vehicles worth Rs 6 million under Section 157, 480 yards of cloth worth Rs 254,000, cigarettes worth Rs 500,000, 5600 litres of diesel worth Rs 392,000, auto parts worth Rs 784,000 and miscellaneous items worth Rs 18.6 million during different actions.
