Customs Intelligence seizes mobile phones, Iranian juice

KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized smuggled mobile phones and beverage during two successful raids.

Director Customs Intelligence Imtiaz Ahmed Khan received information that a huge quantity of mobile phones would be smuggled out of thee city. The director informed the deputy director about the information. Consequently, he set up a team consisting of Inspector Sarum Khan, Mujtaba Khan and Inspector Shabeer Elahi. The team established check-points at the exit point of the city and started the checking of vehicles. During the search of vehicles, the officials intercepted a suspected vehicle. While the searching, the team recovered more than 500 Android smart phones. Driver Usman Khan said that these cell phones were loaded by a person named Gul Khan. The Customs Intelligence officials seized the cell phones and filed a case against the smuggler. The team said that the estimated amount of the confiscated cell phones is more than Rs 10 million.

In another action, the Customs Intelligence has recovered 500 cartons of Iranian juice. Customs Intelligence received information a huge quantity of smuggled juice was supplied through a truck. The Customs team formed check point in the area of Panjghoor at the road of Tram Zai and started the checking of vehicles. While the checking the team intercepted a truck which was filled with 500 cartons of Iranian juice. The officials asked the driver to show the customs clearance documents but he remained failed to provide any documents. The custom officials confiscated the items and the approximately value of seized items is more than Rs4 million. The smugglers have a plan to supply this juice from different cities of the country.
