MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized foreign origin timber & chillgoza worth Rs.1.1 million in their action.
According to details, Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation received credible information from their source that foreign origin wood smuggled into Punjab through Dera Ghazi Khan Region. Deputy Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Khial Muhammad Khan formed special team which comprising of Inspector Muhammad Umer, Inspector Amjad, Inspector Malik Nasir, Zulfiqar and others to intercept the said goods.
Field Intelligence Unit of Dera Ghazi Khan was deputed at various routes to enhance the monitoring of various routes of Sakhi Sarwar and adjoining areas to detain the smuggled goods. Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan teams intercepted the suspected Hino truck loaded with foreign origin chillgoza near Sakhi Sarwar.
Customs Intelligence asked the driver of the Hino driver who was identified as Gulab Shah to present import documents of the said timber and chillgoza to justify its possession. The impounded Hino truck was having registration no.K-6851 and Model 1990.Driver presented the bilty papers to Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan but they were not relevant to loaded goods in the said truck. The said driver informed customs team that consignor of this loaded wood is Wana to Peshawar and their final destination was Chiniot.
The weight of the captured timber & chillgoza was almost 600 square feet and 5944.25 kilograms. Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan decided to seize capture timber & chillgoza of worth Rs 1.1 million and their duty taxes were almost Rs600,000. Customs also seized the Hino Truck along with their goods under Customs Act 1969.
