Customs Intelligence seizes smuggled Iran made chocolates

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated Smart dream brand chocolates worth Rs 1,300,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 8,85,420.

Sources told Customs Today that following information received through Deputy Director Ittrat Hussain, the intelligence team comprising Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari, Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Siddique, Muhammad Saleem and others sepoys intercepted a trailer bearing registration no: P-2729 loaded with Smart dream brand chocolates with coconut cream made in Iran. On query, driver Nasir Mehmood son of Muhammad Aslam produced different slips issued by M/s Pak International Goods Transport.

Therefore, after the examination, the customs officials seized the items under the Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1) 89 and 178 of Customs Act, 1969. The seizure report was forwarded to adjudication for further legal action.
