FAISALABAD; The Collectorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized smuggled goods worth Rs6.758 million involving in duty and taxes amounting Rs1.94 million during the first week of January 2017.
Sources told Customs Today, that the Customs Intelligence team conducted various operations on the instruction of Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain against the smuggled goods and vehicles in different areas of its jurisdiction, including Sargodha, Khushab and Faisalabad.
The teams confiscated smuggled goods including foreign origin used LCD, Monitors in different brand worth Rs900,000 involving customs duty Rs290,592. Customs official told that miscellaneous goods worth Rs1.2 million involving customs duty and taxes Rs790,592. Seized during different actions.
The intelligence team recovers others consignment of F/O Used Personal Computer Worth Rs4.658,266 involving duty and taxes Rs859,370. Deputy director Muhammad Riaz Hussain said that all these consignment released on payments of duty and taxes with redemption fine.
The customs has made confiscations under Section 156(1)89 and 90 ibid read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act, 1969, after the owners failed to produce documents showing the legal import of the items.
The intelligence officers team comprising Senior Intelligence officer Muhammad Tahir, Muhammad Siddique, Mohammad Saleem and Liaqat Ali, Israr Ahmed, Shoukat Hayat participated in the operation. However, the seizure cases have been referred to the Customs Adjudication for further legal actions.
