Customs Intelligence team impounds non-duty paid vehicle worth Rs 9.5m

ISLAMABAD: Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) impounded a non-duty paid smuggled vehicle Toyota Land Cruiser worth Rs 9.5 million.

According to details, the Customs Intelligence team received a tip-off that a non-customs paid smuggled vehicle Toyota Land Cruiser bearing registration no. BS 113 ICT Model 2011 is parked at Sector Markaz F-11.

To check the authenticity of the information, the anti-smuggling staff of Directorate rushed to the spot and found the vehicle parked in front of a restaurant. Inspite of the hectic efforts nobody came forward to claim the vehicle, after waiting more than four hours. The Customs Intelligence team taken  the vehicle taken into custody in presence of witnesses and shifted it to the the Directorate Headquarter.

During scrutiny, no record of the vehicle was found. Customs I&I has been detained the vehicle under section of 17 of the Customs Act 1969 for further verification of its import and auction status and payment of duty and taxes etc. Further proceedings are still underway till the filing of this report.
