Customs Intelligence transfers assistant director, superintendents and inspectors

MULTAN: Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation has transferred seven officials of Multan office including assistant director, superintendent and inspectors.

According to details, Assistant Director Furqan Mehmood has been transferred from Multan to Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Islamabad. Furqan Mehmood was recently assigned task at Multan on October 4, 2016. Earlier, he has been performing duty at Peshawar Customs.

Sources told Customs Today that Director General Shaukat Ali has decided to post a deputy director at Multan Customs Intelligence due to its significance to curb smuggling. They added that no one has been appointed yet after the transfer of Assistant Director Furqan Mehmood and the position is still vacant.

Meanwhile, the Customs Intelligence has transferred Superintendent Fareeduddin Masood from Multan office to Faisalabad, while Superintendent Zahid Bukhari from Faisalabad to Multan.

Inspector Mobeen Akhtar has been transferred to Lahore Customs Intelligence from Multan and Inspector Adnan Chandia Gwadar from Dera Ghazi Khan to Gwadar.

Upper Division Clerk Abid Javed has been transferred from Multan to Islamabad and driver Muhammad Ramzan has been posted at Islamabad Customs Intelligence.

The sources said that such measures have been taken in order to improve the performance of the department and deal with the smugglers hardly. They added that vigilance has been enhanced on all routes, which are mostly used by the smugglers.

New check posts were being established on various routes to curb smuggling of non-duty paid goods and vehicles, they said, adding that smuggling will not be toleated at any level, as it damaged national kitty and local markets badly.
