Customs Preventive arrests accused involved in 6.5kg heroine smuggling case

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) branch has arrested main accused who is involved in Rs65 million after a lapse of one year.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Investigation & Prosecution branch has registered FIR no 6/2019 and nominated Asad Ferzand Ali and Shnawar Ali for smuggling of 6.5 kilograms heroine while the bid was foiled but the accused were not arrested.

Now, on directions of Collector Customs Preventive Basit Maqsood Abbasi, Inspector Waheed Bhatti intensified search for the accused were taken into custody from different areas. Asad Ali was arrested from Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIA) while Shnawar Ali was taken into custody from Hanjerwal. Both the accused have been sent to judicial custody in camp jail.

The sources said that further investigations are still underway till filing of this report.

It is necessary to mention here that Collector Preventive Basit Maqsood Abbasi directed to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling.
