Customs Islamabad impounds vehicles & items priced at Rs62m during December

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization Islamabad took into possession contraband goods and vehicles valued at Rs62million during the month of December of Financial Year 2017-18.

According to details given by Majid Hussain Gaad while talking with Customs Today that, during the month of December, the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad impounded 19 offending vehicles (vehicles used to carry smuggling goods) worth Rs20.70million while it took into possession four Non-Duty-Paid (NDP) vehicles priced at Rs20.41million.
The ASO Islamabad seized 1,676 yards of foreign origin fabric valued at Rs0.084million while it did 253 kilogram of smuggling foreign origin auto spare parts priced at Rs0.0068million. The ASO confiscated 1,050 packs of fake foreign origin cigarettes worth Rs0.557million.
The Assistant Collector ASO Islamabad told the correspondent that, during the month of December FY17-18, the ASO impounded 8,850 electronic items priced at Rs9.38million whereas it seized other various kinds of smuggling goods worth Rs9.54million. The ASO took into possession four NDP vehicles and contraband items valued at Rs41.41million.
