Customs Islamabad seizes smuggled goods worth Rs 264m in June

ISLAMABAD: Directorate-General Intelligence and Investigation Islamabad has seized Rs 264 million smuggled goods and arrested 7 accused while 108 cases were registered against the smugglers during June, 2015.

According to details, Deputy Director headquarters Khaldunul Haq told Customs Today that during the course of anti-smuggling activities in June 2015, the Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation Islamabad has seized and recovered Rs 264 million smuggled goods from different parts of the country, including 40,003 yards cloth worth Rs 3.7 million, 28,586 kilograms of smuggled tea having worth of Rs 9.1 million while 41 offending vehicles having worth of Rs 78 million were also seized during June 2015.

He added that 443,200 liters of diesel having worth of Rs 29 million were recovered and seized, 122 buckets of smuggled grease heaving worth of Rs4.9 million and Rs 8.4 million of 560 tyres, tubes and auto parts were also seized while 6,850 dandas of foreign smuggled cigarettes and gutka worth of Rs8.1 million were also seized during the anti-smuggling drives in June 2015.

 

He further added that 40 non duty paid vehicals worth of Rs40.2 million and other smuggled goods woth of Rs 81million were recovered and seized during anti- smuggling activities.

He added that during this month 108 cases were registered against the smugglers while 7 accused were arrested during operation and other investigation are underway.
