Customs Jhang impounds vehicle loaded with 3,240kg of dyed polyester fabrics

JHANG: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Jhang seized illegally imported foreign origin dyed polyester fabrics weighed 3,240kg near bypass Bhakkar Road Jhang.

Sources told Customs Today that, on a tip-off, Faisalabad Assistant Collector Shah Samand Hamdani directed the Jhang ASO to conduct a raid on the would-be smuggling cloths.

So the raiding team set up a picket on the Bhakkar Road and confiscated the abovementioned item. The market value of the fabrics is reported Rs4million while the market worth of the impounded vehicle is Rs995672.

The officials also apprehended a driver namely Muhammad Amir son of Umar Hayat, a resident of district Chinniot. He was asked to produce all the bilties relating to the item loaded in the container. It was observed that along with a GD No: KAPW-HC-235787 which showed import of printed polyester fabrics mentioning consigner and consignee Haji Muhammad Khalid.

The said documents were examined carefully with the article physically and found tallied. Thus fabrics were taken into possession and brought to the ASO office.

The raiding partly included Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Inspectors Asghar Mehdi Naqvi, Mujahid Abbas, Driver Ghulam Abbas and Sepoy Atta Muhammad.

Further investigation is in progress.
