Customs JIAP foils attempt to smuggle 1.2 kg heroin

KARACHI: Customs staff deputed at Jinnah International Airport on Tuesday successfully foiled an attempt of smuggling by seizing 1.2kgs of brown heroin powder.

According to sources, the illicit drug was being carried by a passenger Jawadullah who is a resident of Charssada and was trying to fly to Qatar. During thorough examination at Customs counter, heroin powder was recovered by dismantling a plastic stool.

It was smartly concealed in the said container that it went almost undetected from scanning machine installed at departure. However, experience Customs staff along with exuberant young officers made this excellent detection possible.

The accused Jawadullah son of Hassan Ali (late) has been taken into custody along with his passport. Preliminary investigations revealed that accused and his brother work as denter in Qatar and he was delivered this baggage (container) by his brother’s friend namely Shoaib from Multan. FIR is being lodged. Further investigations are afoot to trace out criminals involved behind this crime.
