Customs JIAP foils bid to smuggle marijuana worth Rs17m from Bangkok

The operation was started the supervision of Collector Adeem Khan, who directed Additional Collector Faisal Khan to enhance monitoring international departure and arrival lounges of the airport.

Acting on credible information, the Customs team enhanced monitoring of EMS post parcels originating from Bangkok, Thailand, as they were suspected to contain contraband or controlled substances.

During an intelligence-based operation, a suspicious parcel containing used clothing and shoes was intercepted. The parcel, booked from Bangkok and addressed to Mr. Haider, was examined in the presence of Customs and IMO staff. This led to the discovery of 3.4 kilograms of raw marijuana. An FIR is being registered to trace the real culprits behind this crime
