Customs JIAP foils bid to smuggle Rs11.8m foreign currency to Dubai

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Jinnah International Airport officials have seized foreign currency worth more than Rs11.8 million from a woman passenger traveling to Dubai.

The passenger was traveling on a private airline flight to Dubai and allegedly provided incorrect information and a false declaration regarding the currency she was carrying.

A search of her luggage led to the recovery of multiple foreign currencies, including $33,600, €300, £2,570 and AED 19,815.

The total value of the recovered currency was assessed at approximately Rs. 11.8 million.

Customs officials seized the currency under the Customs Act, 1969, following the alleged incorrect declaration by the passenger.

An FIR has also been registered against the woman, while further legal proceedings are underway.
