Customs lodges FIR against company for importing fireworks through misdeclaration

KARACHI: The Intelligence and Investigation FBR has finally registered an FIR against importer M/s Nizami Traders Rawalpindi for clearing a huge quantity of fireworks through misdeclaration.

The importer M/s Nizami Traders attempted to get cleared a consignment that contained 21,662 kilograms of fireworks and crackers through misdeclaration. The importer had filed a goods declaration, showing the consignment as kitchen wares.

According to details, Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation on a tip off conveyed to them by Director General Imtiaz Ahmed Khan foiled a bid and recovered a huge quantity of fireworks in a container CBHU-8570130 at the Karachi Port.

The fireworks and crackers of a huge quantity worth Rs 21 million were recovered, Director Yaqoob Mako told Customs Today. The Customs Intelligence has registered a case against M/s Nizami Traders while teams are being formed to arrest the importer.
