Customs NIIA recovers huge quantity of mobile phones, accessories & liquor worth Rs2.55m

ISLAMABAD: Collectorate of Customs deputed at New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA) recovered huge quantity  of foreign-origin mobile phones, accessories and liquor worth Rs2.55 million from four passengers arrived from different flights.

Additional Collector Nisar Ahmad Phularwal told Customs Today that after strict instruction to Customs staff deputed at NIIA to enhance vigilance at Arrival Lounge, they seized smuggled foreign-origin goods from the suspected passengers.

He said that the seized goods are including assorted brand liquor 15 bottles worth Rs0.05 million from Qamar Rauf who arrived through flight no: WY-345. Nisar said that Customs staff also seized 17 telecom equipment and IP phones worth Rs0.5 million from Ayesha Sohail when she arrived from the same flight. Nisar told that Customs NIIA staff intercepted one passenger Muhammad Idress who was coming through PK-232 and recovered foreign-origin assorted mobile phones i.e. 2 iPhones, 8 Samsung and 2 Sony mobiles worth Rs0.5 million.

The Additional Collector stated that during checking at Departure Lounge, the Customs staff seized assorted mobiles including 11 iPhones, 8 Samsung, 01 Huawei and 01 China mobile worth Rs1.5 million from M. Younas who was coming to Pakistan via EY-231.
