ISLAMABAD: The Customs North Region collected over Rs379million more revenue of Sales Tax than a revenue collection of first three weeks of corresponding January FY2016-17.
According to details given by official sources of the Customs North Region, which includes Collectorates of Islamabad, Peshawar, Samberial and Gilgit-Baltistan, that, during above said period, the North Region earned Rs1063million as ST against a revenue collection of Rs684million during the same period of last Financial Year (FY) 2016-17. The North Region has been assigned Rs1112.35million of ST for the month of January FY17-18. It is hoped that the North Region will not only meet the earmarked revenue target of January FY17-18 but will also exceeded it.
Sources said that, during first three weeks of January 2017-18, the North’s Customs Station Islamabad generated Rs515.92million while it did Rs293.33million during the same period of FY2016-17. It was notified that it received Rs222.59million of extra revenue of ST during first three weeks of the current month against the identical period of FY2016-17.
The correspondent was told that, during first three weeks of January 17-18, the North’s Peshawar Collectorate received Rs528million as ST against Rs376million which was done during the same period of FY16-17.
Sources estimated that the Peshawar collectorate got Rs152million additional revenue under the head of ST against the previous period of FY16-17.
The Collectorate of Samberial is an export customs station which has also generated a surplus revenue with an extra amount of Rs4million as ST during first three weeks of January FY17-18 against the same corresponding period while Gilgit-Baltistan remained closed due to its snowy status.
