Customs North Region functioning sans Chief Collector

ISLAMABAD: The post of Chief Collector North has been vacant for the last one month and should be filled immediately.

Earlier, Dr. Asif Mehmood Jah has been performing his duties as Chief Collector of North Region for almost two years, Asif Jah is retired and now working as FTO.

Sources informed that the strongest candidate for post of Chief Collector North including Ms Seema Raza Bukhari who is working as DG Post Clearance Audit and the second strongest candidate is DG Muhammad Rauf and the Collector Islamabad Junaid Jaleel.

It is necessary to mention here that no high officer is assigned look after charge of Chief Collector North office, this is most important administrative position in Customs department while till to day the FBR (Federal Board of Revenue) has not given this charge to any officer of BPS 21.

The sources further told that the jurisdiction of North region is comprises MCC Islamabad, MCC Sialkot and MCC Gilgit Baltistan.

The MCC Peshawar Appraisement and MCC Peshawar Enforcement were previously part of Chief Collector North region but now new post has been created for the Chief Collector of KPK (Khyber Pakhtoon Khawa) which got separated from North region and now MCC Peshawar taken into jurisdiction of Chief Collector North.
