ISLAMABAD: Customs North Region, comprising Customs Collectorate Sialkot, Peshawar, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad, collected Rs11147.71million Customs Duty (CD) from July to May of Financial Year (FY) 2016-17 whereas it did Rs12312.50million Sales Tax (ST) during the same period.
The overall performance of the north region has been good under both heads of CD and ST. The Collectorate of Islamabad generated Rs5114.13million CD while Collectorate of Peshawar did Rs5984.14million under the same head. The Collectorate of Samberial (Sialkot) received Rs1094.02million under the same head. The Collectorate of GB earned Rs1143.46million CD during 11 months (July to May) of Financial Year 2016-17.
The Islamabad Collectorate got Rs4486.02million ST from July to 31st May FY16-17 whereas the Collectorate of Peshawar did Rs6344.94million under the same head. The Collectorate of Samberial collected Rs290.12million ST and the Collectorate of GB did Rs942.76million.
The Chief Collector had asked all the collectorates, working under the umbrella of north region, to gear up their efforts to meet the assigned tax collection target under all the heads during the month of June FY16-17.
June’s target has been almost dubbled after assigning the revised target, especially for collectorate of Islamabad, under the head of Customs Duty, but the north region is trying its level best to meet its allocated targets for last month (June) of Financial Year 2016-17.
