Customs North Region surpasses revenue collection targets of FY2018-19:  Chief Collector Asif Mehmood Jah

ISLAMABAD: The Customs North Region has surpassed assigned annual revenue collection target under all heads before ending of financial year 2018-19 as the North Region generated extra amount of Rs 1.4 billion against allocated target.

Chief Collector North Asif Mehmood Jah informed Customs Today that the North region, which comprises Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad, GB (Gilgit Baltistan), Peshawar Preventive and Peshawar Appraisement and Samberial (Sialkot), recorded excellent performance during FY (financial year) 18-19. The North Region’s Collectorates showed satisfactory performance throughout the financial year in revenue collection as well as anti-smuggling activities.

It is worthy to mention here that the Peshawar Collectorate earned Rs 71 million in a single case while Kohat Customs station (under MCC Peshawar) made two grand seizures of Rs 31 million during current month whereas the Collectorate made Rs 40 million value cases per month against tax offenders throughout the year.

The North region earned Rs 46762.21 million till 25th June FY18-19 against assigned annual revenue collection target worth Rs 45278 million. The North fetched extra amount worth Rs1484.21 million till 25th June FY18-19. He told that North received Rs 40929.60 million under all heads during FY17-18.

The Collectorates under Chief Collector North region respectively earned very well, adding that the MCC Islamabad received Rs 4124 million extra revenue till 25th June while MCC Peshawar Appraisement showed – Rs 4208 million against assigned revenue target, the MCC Preventive Peshawar earned Rs 416 million extra against assigned target as well MCC Sialkot earned Rs 757 million against assigned target whereas MCC Gilgit Baltistan earned Rs 393.84 million extra revenue during July to 25th June against assigned revenue collection target under all heads.
