LAHORE: The custom officials foiled a bid to smuggle two kilogram pure gold and arrested two smugglers today.
The custom officers searched the baggage of two passengers who arrived at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore from Dubai via a private airline flight.
During search, two kilogram of high quality gold was recovered from the possession of passengers Rafique and Sara Begum.
In the preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to work as goldsmiths in Pakistan. They smuggled gold into the country from abroad, prepared jewelry and sold it to people in Dubai.
