Customs officials plant 200 saplings

LUDHIANA: The office of the commissioner of customs, Ludhiana, on Wednesday planted 200 saplings at Sahnewal Khurd, as part of a plantation drive to make Ludhiana green.

The department’s officials along with planted several varieties of herbal plants including Neem, Sheshim, Arjan, Dek, and Sukhchain.

The department has also joined hands with TOI to identify the ideal spots for planting trees, preferably in industrial areas. According to deputy commissioner of customs Harkirpal Khatana, “We want to do our best to make the city clean and green. That is why we have undertaken this drive to plant as many trees as we can. We are also identifying ideal spots at Focal Point where saplings can be planted. In the drive undertaken today, we planted 200 saplings. In the coming days, we will plant close to 3000 saplings,” Khatana said.
