Customs officials to brief senators on transit trade today

KARACHI: The Directorate General of Transit Trade has finalized all the arrangements to brief the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue on the overall progress of the department today.

Director Transit Trade Wajid Ali held several meeting with the officer of the Directorate General of Transit Trade and finalized briefing to be given to the members of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue.

The source also informed that the committee will also visit the Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT), Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) and Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT).

During the visit of Karachi Port Trust (KPT) the Senate Finance panel will inspect the Integrated Transit Trade Management System (ITTMS) and scanning machines installed by the custom authorities to control the growing menace of smuggling and mis-declaration.

The detailed briefing to the members of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue will be delivered by the Customs authorities on its working and performance at Custom House in the afternoon, the source added.
