Customs officials urged to work with honesty, dedication

KARACHI: Pakistan Customs officers have been instructed to maintain transparency and perform their duties with utmost honesty and dedication.

This was asked by the former Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhawah, Abdullah, at a motivational lecture organized under the instruction of the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Tariq Bajwa on Tuesday.

The main lecture was held at FBR Headquarters; however it was participated by the all field units of the customs except Gwadar and Bahawalpur units through video link. The participation of the officials of BS-17 and above was made mandatory for the video conference.

The lecture at Customs House – Karachi was attended among others by Chief Collectors Enforcement and Appraisement-South, Collector MCC Appraisement-West Muhammad Saleem, MCC Collector East Manzoor Memon, Muhammad Saleem, MCC Collector Export Muhammad Javed Ghani, Director Post Clearance Audit Gul Rehman, Director Internal Audit Zahid Hyder Bhayo.

While speaking on the occasion, ex-CS KPK Abdullah elaborated on how to perform duties and share most of his experience with the participating customs officials of Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad etc.

The common people contacted the officers to resolve their issues and if the grievances of the people are not addressed, the responsibility fall on officers’ shoulders, he added.
