The Customs Department is of the view that the importer has knowingly and wilfully availed inadmissible exemption and evaded duty taxes as they despite the repeated reminders at their addresses failed to explain their side of the story to the Directorate as to why they should not be asked to pay taxes and penalized under the customs law. The directorate has charged the importer with the contravention and forwarded the case to the Collectorate of the Customs Adjudication.
