Customs Preventive achieves revenue target for 1H of FY2016-17

KARACHI: Customs Preventive successfully achieved the revenue target of Rs. 20 billion during the first half (July to December) of the current financial year (FY) 2016-17.

According to details, Customs Enforcement South and Customs Preventive staff appointed at international arrivals and departures of Jinnah international airport Karachi showed outstanding performance and added handsome amount in targeted revenue collection. During the above said period the staff registered 592 seizures cases of contraband goods.

The seized goods include gold, foreign currency, mobile phones and narcotics as well as liquor of worth Rs.325 million during the first half of FY2016-17. Currency worth Rs. 84 million, 7.578 kilogram gold worth Rs. 33 million, 2544 mobile phones of different brands worth Rs. 302 million, narcotics worth Rs. 170 million and around 2527 bottles of liquor worth Rs. 4.4 million have been seized from smugglers.

Customs Preventive, after seizing the goods, registered cases against offenders and forwarded it to Adjudication for further proceeding.
