Customs Preventive ASO impounds 11 non-customs paid vehicles in June

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has impounded 11 non-customs paid luxury vehicles during the month of June 2017.

As per details, different teams of the Anti-Smuggling Organization impounded non-customs paid items worth Rs 11,800,000 from various localities in and out of Lahore city.

The ASO team seized various non-customs paid vehicles including Mitsubishi Pajero jeep, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Mark-X, Toyota Crown car, Toyota Crown, Toyota Hilux Surf, Honda Civic Car, Toyota Hilux surf,, Toyota Mark X and other brands during various crackdowns.

The non-customs paid vehicle were mainly impounded from Muslim Town, Gulberg, Model Town Defense, Ravi Road, Johar Town and other places in the city. The vehicles were impounded after their drivers and owners failed to produce import documents. Most of the vehicles were being plied on the city roads on fake documents and number plates.

The vehicle were confiscated on the information of Collector of Customs Preventive Zulfikar Ali Chaudhary while the operations against the non customs paid vehicles were conducted by anti smuggling teams comprising Superintendent Nasir Minhas, Sajjad Bukhari and others.

The vehicles were seized after customs authorities were fully satisfied that the vehicles were not properly imported but smuggled. Sources told that Customs Preventive ASO teams after completing necessary procedure will forward these cases to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.

It is necessary to mention here that Collector Zulfikar Ali Chaudhary already directed all anti smuggling teams to adopt zero tolerance policy towards owners and drivers of the non customs paid vehicles.
