Customs Preventive seizes smuggled goods in raid on Landhi godown

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive seized huge quantity of smuggled goods worth millions of rupees after a successful raid on a godown in Landhi.

According to the details, Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has recovered huge quantity of smuggled assorted cigarettes, tobacco for shesha smoking as well as bales of second hand clothing.

On the tip of higher authorities, Deputy Collector Customs Preventive Anti- Smuggling Organization (ASO) Headquarters Muhammad Faisal constituted a team to conduct a raid on a godown near Landhi where smuggled contraband items were being kept.

The ASO team, under the supervision of Deputy Collector Muhammad Faisal, conducted the raid on the godown situated in Landhi from which container no: FSCU- 9123509 containing smuggled goods were recovered.

According to the initial inquiry, the containers no: FSCU- 9123509 was filled with the smuggled foreign-origin 4,230 dandas (long packs) cigarettes worth Rs2,115,000, 154 cartons of tobacco for the usage of shesha weighing 1287 kilograms worth Rs1960000, 24 cartons of tobacco weighing 1560 kilograms worth Rs624000 and 46 bales second hand clothing weighing 1380 kilograms worth Rs658250.

The vehicle bearing No JT-5103 was also recovered from the crime scene and the total value of apprehended smuggled goods worth Rs 3.4 million in the market. A case has been filed against the owner of smuggled contraband items whereas further investigations are under way to search out the smugglers involve in the crime.
