Customs Preventive collects Rs 12.5 billion in October

KARACHI: The Model Collectorate of Customs Preventive collected Rs 12.53 billion under the head of customs duty, sales tax, income tax and federal excise duty during October 2016.

The Customs Preventive collected Rs 2,374.27 million under the head of customs duty, Rs 8,264.36 million as sales tax, Rs 1,166.13 million as income tax and Rs 725.85 million as FED.

Significantly, the department collected Rs 373.38 million as customs duty and Rs 1.595.59 million as sales tax on the last working day i.e. October 31, 2016.

At all, it collected Rs 44.184.41 million since July 1 to October 31, 2016 that included Rs 9,242.44 million as customs duty, Rs 28,986.36 million as sales tax, Rs 4,082.47 million as income tax and Rs 1,873.14 million as FED.

Sources said that the newly posted Collector Dr Saifuddin Junejo has lauded the performance of the officials of the collectorate in attaining the revenue targets and hoped that the officials would put up extra efforts to achieve more than the set targets.
