Customs Preventive collects Rs 12,670m duties/taxes in December 2016

KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Preventive has collected Rs 12,670 million under the head of customs duty, sales tax, income tax and the federal excise duty during the month of December 2016.

The official sources told Customs Today that Customs Preventive collected Rs 12,670  million in the whole month of December 2016 that included Rs 3,689.19 million customs duty, Rs 7,633.82 million sales tax, Rs 1,248.28 million income tax and Rs 99.49 million the federal excise duty (FED).

Significantly, the Customs Preventive collected Rs 471.20 million as customs duty and Rs 1,107.50 million as sales tax on the last working day i.e. December 31, 2016.

At all, the Preventive Collectorates has collected Rs 66,746.26 million from July 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016 that included Rs 18,406.99 million customs duty, Rs 40,911.90 million sales tax, Rs 6,140.40 million income tax and Rs 1,286.97 million the federal excise duty.

Sources said that the newly posted Collector Preventive Dr Saifuddin Junejo lauded the performance of the officials of the collectorate in attaining the revenue targets and hoped that the officials would put up extra efforts to achieve more than the set targets.
