Customs Preventive collects Rs 10,795m duties, taxes during January 2017

KARACHI: The Model Collectorate of Customs (MCC) Preventive has collected Rs10,795 million under the head of customs duty, sales tax, income tax and the federal excise duty during the month of January 2017.

The official sources told Customs Today that Customs Preventive collected Rs 10,795 million in the whole month of January 2017 that included Rs 2,496.26 million customs duty, Rs 6,737.18 million sales tax, Rs 1,139.61 million income tax and Rs 422.05 million federal excise duty.

Significantly, the Customs Preventive collected Rs 467.22 million as customs duty and Rs 1188.61 million as sales tax on the last working day i.e. January 31, 2017.

At all, the Preventive Collectorate has collected Rs 78,208.05 million from July 1, 2016 till January 31, 2017 that included Rs 16,923.72 million as customs duty, Rs 50,982.99 million as sales tax, Rs7344.57 million as income tax and Rs2956.77 million as the federal excise duty.

Sources said that the newly posted Collector Customs Preventive Dr Saifuddin Junejo lauded the performance of the officials of the collectorate in attaining the revenue targets and hoped that the officials would put up extra efforts to achieve more than the set targets.
