Customs Preventive collects Rs 16,987m duty, taxes from July 2016 to January 2017

LAHORE: Collectorte of Customs Preventive has collected Rs 16,987 million, including all duty and taxes, from July to January 2016-17 against the collection of Rs 17,463 during the corresponding period of the last financial year.

As per details, the collectorate under supervision of Collector Customs Preventive Zulfiqar Younas collected Rs 4,681 million under the head of customs duty during the period under review. The collectorate collected Rs 7,722 million under the head of sales tax during the period under review.

Similarly, the Collectorate collected Rs 8,481million withholding tax (WHT) during the period under review in financial year 2016-17.

The Collectorate collected Rs 164 million federal excise duty (FED) from July to November 2016-17 against the collection of Rs 52 million collected during the same period last finical year.

The Collectorate collected Rs 4,681million as customs duty (CD) during first seven months of current financial year 2016-17.

Over all the Collectorate collected Rs 16,987 million during the seven months of the financial year 2016-17 (July-January).

The Collectorate collected all the revenue from Airport, Wagah Border, Railways Station, Anti-Smuggling Organization and other stations.  The collection as made on account of duty and taxes on import and export from Lahore.

Sources said that collector of customs Preventive visiting all the station urging the additional and deputy collectors to collect as much revenue as they can to achieve the financial year target of the collectorate for the financial year 2016-17.

It was further added that the collectorate is also being degitilised in order to facilitate trade and industry.
