Customs Preventive foils bid to smuggle 28kg heroin at Karachi airport

KARACHI: The Customs Preventive staff has foiled one of the biggest heroin smuggling attempt at Karachi airport. The price of the drug is in millions of rupees in the international market.

On a tip-off, Enforcement-South Chief Collector Muhammad Zahid Khokhar and the Customs Preventive officers deployed at Jinnah International Airport sealed a Flight No PK 305 that reached Karachi from Lahore and was to leave for an onward journey to a foreign country.

The officials searched the flight and found 28 kilogram of heroin packed in nine packets. The packets were kept in secrets places of the aeroplane’s washroom.

The customs authorities have started investigation to trace the culprits whereas the staff of the plane deputed on the flight will also be interrogated.

On the other hand, PIA has also initiated the inquiry against the drugs smuggling whereas the staff is under interrogation. According to the PIA spokesman, the authorities have assured full support to the Customs officers to bust the culprits involved in the drugs smuggling.
