Customs Preventive foils bid to re-export abandoned consignment

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate Preventive, Anti-Smuggling Organization has foiled a bid to re-export a consignment to Dubai.

Official sources told Customs Today that the importer had imported the consignment in July 2015 through misdeclaration and the same was supposed to be cleared from Customs authorities through transshipment permit to the dry port.

While acting swiftly on the intelligence information, the ASO staff checked the suspected container which was being re-exported to Dubai. “The container has more than 5,000 cellular phones, LEDs, and other good worth millions of rupees”, the sources added.

According to details, M/s Essam International-Karachi in July 2015 imported a consignment  and Transshipment Permit (TP) was filed. And after that the importer was approached that their consignment was lying on the port to which representative of M/s Essam International appeared before the authorities claiming that their ID was misused and they did not imported the said consignment
