Customs Preventive foils bid to smuggle betel nuts

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive team raided a benami godown located in SITE area and recovered 23 tons of betel nuts and other foreign-origin packing material.

According to a press release, a successful raid of Anti-Smuggling Organization was carried out under the direct supervision of Additional Collector (Headquarters-I)  Mohammad Faisal at SITE area B-9. During raid, ASO team recovered contraband goods mainly betel nuts 2,2680 kilograms worth Rs5,579,280, packing material 25,670 kilograms worth Rs394,676 and empty drums (bitumen) 400 numbers worth Rs30,000.

It is necessary to mention here that this is a second raid successfully conducted after a pincer operation against contraband goods in a bus terminal at Yousaf Goth, Karachi.

FIR of the case is being lodged to initiate further investigations in the matter.
