Customs Preventive foils bid to smuggle goods, impounds NDP vehicles

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded two non-duty paid vehicles and lodged two FIRs against owners of smuggled vehicles.

According to sources Collector Preventive Saquib Saeed received information that some non-duty paid vehicles are plying in the city

Subsequently a team was constituted under the supervision of Deputy Collector ASO Akbar Jan and IPS Iftikhar Hassan. The suspected vehicles were spotted and intercepted. The occupants of the vehicles could not provide documents to substantiate lawful import and possession of the vehicles.

Examination found that the chassis numbers of the vehicles had been tampered. The vehicles valuing around Rs5.5 million have been seized and investigations are underway.

FIR is lodged against Asmat Ullah and Ameenullah Khan in respect of Toyota Mark X while the driver of the Toyota Passo car had managed to flee at the time the car was stopped by the Customs staff.
