Customs Preventive foils bid to smuggle Iranian diesel worth Rs5.2m at Moacho Chowe Point

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized 200,000 liters smuggled diesel in last fifteen days working round the clock to deter against diesel mafia.

Sources told Customs Today that on the tip of higher authority Deputy Collector Headquarters Faisal Khan constituted a team to conduct raid over the received information.

During two separate raids the team of ASO has apprehended huge quantity of smuggled contraband goods as well as Iranian origin high speed diesel worth millions of rupees in the market.

Deputy Collector Faisal Khan informed Customs Today that on credible tip off,  intercepted an oil tanker bearing registration No. TMH-159 containing smuggled Iranian diesel. While conducting search operation the team of the ASO found 45,000 to 50,000 liters of Iranian origin high speed diesel (HSD) worth Rs 5.2 million at Moachko choke point under the garb of fake documents / invoice of M/s Byco Petroleum Limited which was later confirmed by the said entity.

Deputy Collector Faisal Khan stated that the enforcement drive against smuggling of POL products is in full swing and it will continue till complete eradication of smuggling of Iranian diesel.

During the raid one accused person has also been arrested whereas FIR has being lodged against the culprit. It is worth mentioning here that MCC Preventive has seized so far 200,000 liters smuggled diesel in last fifteen days and working vigilantly 24/7 to deter against diesel mafia, added Deputy Collector Customs Preventive, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Headquarters Faisal Khan.

In another successful action at Gul Bai area, one Suzuki pick up loaded with smuggled soap brand “Dove” in huge quantity has also been seized. The case against the said raid has also been registered.
