Customs Preventive foils Rs 15 million diamonds, gold, watches smuggling bid

LAHORE: Model Customs Collectorate Lahore Preventive foiled a diamonds, gold worth Rs 15 million smuggling bid at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore.

Customs authorities at Lahore airport impounded millions of rupees diamonds, gold and gold watches from passengers travelling from Sharjah to Lahore, Customs’ official sources told Customs Today here Wednesday.

Sources said that the passengers Mrs. Sara Adnan and Rana Muhammad Rafique Farooq arrived at the airport by Air Blue Flight PA-413 from Sharjah.

The Customs authorities on information received through MCC Lahore Preventive Mukarram Jah Ansari stopped the passengers and undertook through search.

The search culminate in illegal import of 15-Diamonds, 2.5 KG Gold & 8 Gold watches of Rado brand, the sources explained, adding that the recovered valuables were assessed at Rs 15 millions.

The Customs authorities have registered a case against the accused and initiated further investigations into the matter.
