KARACHI: Pakistan Customs and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PSMA) has unearthed smuggling of huge quantity of narcotics in a combine operation.
Additional Collector Customs Preventive Haroon Waqar Malik said that crimes with regards to the narcotics are very unique and the investigations against these crimes are held deeply. He said a special investigation committee has been form which is given task to investigate against crime related to the narcotics.
According to the details, a combine operation was conducted by the Pakistan Custom and the senior officers of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PSMA) in deep sea on 27th of the December 2019 during which a boat carrying 465 kilograms of chars was busted successfully. The seized smuggled narcotics worth Rs90 million in international market.
A combine press conference was held in PSMA Headquarters where the officer of the Pakistan Customs and the Director General Pakistan Maritime Security Agency Rear Admiral Zaka Ur Rehman briefed the media person regarding the success of the combine operation.
During the briefing it was informed that on authentic information over the smuggling of the narcotics through four boats carrying huge quantity, an operation was conducted in the deep sea and while conducting the operation three boats managed to escape but one boat was apprehended.
The culprits involved in the heinous crime of narcotics smuggling will be deal with iron hands whereas actions against them will continue till we curb the menace of narcotics crimes, added the Additional collector Custom Preventive Haroon Waqar Malik.
After the press conference the officers of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PSMA) handed over the recovered narcotics to the Pakistan Customs for the further investigations.
