After that, the officials impounded the car and bring it to state warehouse. During initial investigations, the registration number found fake and FIR was lodged against the unknown accused person for further investigation.

Officials said that performance of Anti-Smuggling Organisation’s (ASO) car cell remained satisfactory during first four months of financial year 2016-17, adding that it impounded as many as 42 non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 66.761 million during the said period. They further said that car cell was taking all possible steps to eradicate the smuggling of vehicles; especially luxury vehicles through this region.

The Islamabad Customs’ ASO officials following the special instruction of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Collector Arslan Subuctageen were doing work with full devotion and generated handsome revenue during first four months of the running fiscal year.

The officials added that impounding the vehicles is not only helpful to generate revenue collection but also minimise the possibilities of their use in terrorist activities.
