Customs Preventive impounds smuggled gutka worth Rs12.075m from Gulberg Town

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has recovered huge quantity of smuggled gutka from Hilal Associates located in Gulberg Town.

Sources told that mareket value of seized goods is Rs12.075 million while, Collector Saquif Saeed received information w that huge quantity of smuggled foreign origin gutka dumped at Hilal Associates, Gulberg Town, Karachi and would likely to be remove from that premises son.

Pursuant to aid information a Customs team headed by the deputy collector, was formed to foil the attempt and conduct the search accordingly.

The Customs team reached the location and  the search of the premise resulted in recovery of huge quantity of assorted bags containing foreign origin Safina brand gutka.

An FIR is lodged and investigations are underway while efforts are being made to arrest the persons involved in the crime. Sources told that during another anti-smuggling drive, acting on a credible information,  anti-smuggling squad intercepted a  passenger bus at Moachko Choke Point and recovered clothes, gutka , tyres , Ajinomoto salt,  fabric from it.

The total value of seizure is approximately Rs18.2 million. Moreover, ASO/MCC Preventive Karachi raided two warehouses in jodia Bazar, seizing huge quantities of smuggled betel nuts and Indian gutka worth Rs10.5 million.
