Customs Preventive made 592 seizure cases worth Rs 325m in six months: Collector Saifuddin Junejo

KARACHI: Collector Customs Collectorate Preventive Dr Saifuddin Junejo has said that his collectorate made at least 592 seizure cases from July to December 2016.

Talking to Customs Today, Collector Junejo said under the dynamic administrative command of Chief Collector of Customs, Enforcement South Zahid Khokhar, the staff of Preventive Collectorate posted at international arrivals and international departures of Karachi airport performed in a very effective and professional manner during the first half of the current financial year i.e. from July 2016 to December 2016 and effected 592 seizure cases of contraband goods pertaining to gold, jewelry, currency, mobile phones, narcotics and alcohol worth Rs 325 million.

In these seizure cases, the staff apprehended currency worth Rs 84 million, 7.578kg gold, gold jewelry worth Rs 33 million, 2544 mobile phones of assorted brands worth Rs 30 million, narcotics worth Rs 170 million and more than 2,527 bottles of foreign origin alcohol worth Rs 4.4 million, he said.

Besides, the Air Freight Unit (AFU) of Customs Preventive Karachi also achieved the revenue collection target amounting to more than Rs 20 billion during the first six months of the current financial year, collector added.
