Customs Preventive Peshawar seizes smuggled goods worth Rs 79.4m: Collector Asif Saeed

PESHAWAR: The Customs Collectorate (MCC) Preventive Peshawar has seized Non Duty Paid (NDP) goods worth Rs 79.4 million in first week of October.

Collector customs Preventive Peshawar Asif Saeed Khan Lughmani at Customs House Peshawar informed Customs Today that in a daring operation Customs mobile squads seized NDP truck loaded with smuggled goods worth millions of rupees.

Asif Saeed Khan lauded the customs preventive team Peshawar and added that the seizure has been done by Peshawar mobile squads of customs preventive alone.

According to details, three mobile squads of Model Customs Collectorate Preventive Peshawar seized a 20 wheeler trailer Reg No. KBL-1621 full of smuggled cloth and other NDP goods.

The staff of Customs mobile squad Peshawar seized foreign origin goods along with Mercedes truck trailer and shifted it to Customs House Peshawar.

The trailor was loaded with 153 ‘thans’ of polyester cloth equal to 16046 yards and 1384 kgs or 66 ‘thans’ of seat cover cloth which equals to 3650 yards and 573 kgs.

The MCC preventive staff also seized 12 thans of woolen cloth and 470 kgs. The seized NDP goods also include 42 thans of cloth equals to 5039 yards and 1205 kgs.

Customs Preventive also seized 259 cartons of 50 mm iron padlock net weight equals to 31080 nos and 8029 kgs or 37 catos of iron padlock size 63 mm equals to 2664 Nos with net weight 1184 kgs also recovered from the trailer.

The recovered goods also include 42 cartons of iron padlock size 38 mm equals to 10000 nos with net weight 1176 kgs. The seized NDP goods also include 60 cartons of Milano cigarettes total 3000 sticks, Pine light cigarettes 120 carteens total 6000 sticks, 15 cartons of Mond super slim cigarettes total 750 sticks. The seized goods also contain 22 cartons of nails clippers with net weight of 820 kgs, 29 cartons of pencils net weight 725 kgs, 15 cartons of heavy duty lock 50mm net weight 500 kgs, 11 cartons of heavy duty lock 40mm net weight 309 kgs, heavy duty lock 60 mm with net weight 140 kgs. Mercedes truck trailer Reg No. KBL-1621 is estimated at Rs12,000,000.
