Customs Preventive recovers cocaine worth Rs21m from Nigerian national at JIAP

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive team deputed at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) successfully recovered huge quantity of cocaine from the possession of a foreign passenger worth millions of rupees in the market.

Customs Preventive informed Customs Today that the Nigerian national named Okafor Chimezie had arrived Karachi Jinnah International Airport from Turkey by Turkish Airline at 5am in morning.

According to the details, in pursuance of a tip-off received by higher authorities, the staff of Customs Preventive deputed at arrival of the Jinnah International Airport Karachi (JIAP) intercepted a passenger on suspicion and asked for the language search and demanded the travel documents for the verification.

The foreign passenger who was passing through green channel was stopped and diverted to scanning machine. Scanning machine showed the presence of concealment in handle of his hand carry bag. The passenger was taken to the Customs area at the Jinnah International Airport Karachi (JIAP) where complete search was carried.

The officers while conducting the search found huge quantity of concealed drugs in handle of his hand carry bag which worth millions of rupees in the market.

The recovered drug is Cocaine weighting one kilogram and the total value of the drugs in local market is Rs21 million. The customs staff at Jinnah international airport actively got hold of the accused passenger and the drugs. The case against the Nigerian national named Okafor Chimezie has been lodged accordingly whereas further investigations are underway.
