Customs Preventive recovers foreign currency from passenger at JIAP

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs staff deputed Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) departure lounge foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of foreign currency.

Sources told Customs Today that on the tip of higher authority the staff beefed up the security and surveillance at the departure of Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) to nab the culprit involve in the heinous crime of smuggling.

During the tight surveillance the customs Staff on suspicion intercepted a passenger at the departure of Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) and inquired regarding the travel documents. After collecting the documents the staff thoroughly checked the luggage as well as carried out complete physical checking of the passenger.

The Customs officers informed Customs Today that affected in a seizure assorted foreign currency has been recovered from a passenger namely Asif Ali Qureshi son of Muhammad Rafi Qureshi. The said foreign currency comprises on several Saudi Riyal and US dollars which is equivalent to 14444 US dollars.

Customs officers further stated that as per preliminary investigations, passenger is found to be a regular tripper and the accused person is resident of Gulestan-e-Jauhar who has been detained for further investigations. The case has been filed against the culprit whereas further investigations are underway to root out the facilitator as well as master mind involved in the heinous crime of money laundering.
