Customs Preventive recovers NDP cloth worth Rs30m from Misri Shah

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive anti-smuggling squad recovered huge quantity of non-duty paid cloth dumped in a godown located in Misri Shah.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Ahmad Rauf received credible information that huge quantity of non-duty paid cloth is dumped in godown. He directed Additional Collector Mohammad Ishfaq and Deputy Collector Hassan Farid to take action against non-duty paid cloth. An anti-smuggling squad was constituted comprising Inspector Sohail Murtaza, Superintendent Zafar Ullah Niazi and others. The anti-smuggling squad raided a godown located in Misri Shah and recovered huge quantity of non-duty paid cloth. The anti-smuggling squad seized the entire cloth. The market value of seized cloth is Rs30 million.

Sources told that anti-smuggling squad shifted the seized cloth in Customs Preventive warehouse located at Thokhar Niaz Baig. Customs Preventive registered a case against the owner of the godown and further investigations are underway.

Collector Ahmad Rauf lauded the performance of anti-smuggling squad and directed to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling. He directed to anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt according to law.
